Welcome to California Hospital Medical Center!
Since 1887 California Hospital has been at the heart of downtown and active in caring for our downtown and inner city communities. The 316-bed private, non-profit, hospital is a leader in acute care services and in the development of innovative programs that make a difference in both the local community and the medical profession.
California Hospital Medical Center became the first hospital to establish a designated Level II Trauma Center in Los Angeles in more than a decade. The trauma center and emergency services unit at California Hospital have saved the lives of many residents and commuters since its opening in December of 2004.

The J. Thomas McCarthy Center for Emergency Services is the only full-service, 24-hour emergency department in central Los Angeles, serving more than 45,000 patients per year.

The Hope Street Family Center offers social, developmental, and educational support to low-income residents of surrounding communities by concentrating on families, building service networks and aiming at community enrichment.
