The LA Marathon's Official Hospital

The Official Hospital of the Los Angeles Marathon

In 2008, California Hospital Medical Center joins the Los Angeles Marathon as its Official Hospital. California Hospital is providing eight medical stations on the course, along with M.A.S.H. units at the finish line in the Family Reunion area on Race Day. Over 300 medical personnel are assisting the runners throughout the course. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles 2 blocks from the Staples Center, California Hospital Medical Center is a 316-bed acute care hospital known for its wide range of specialties, from Orthopedics and Surgery to Maternity and Neonatal Intensive Care. It is also the area's only Level II Trauma Center.

According to Terry Collier, Marathon Executive Director, “this is the most comprehensive coverage we have ever experienced and look forward to continued collaboration in the years to come.” Chief Timothy Ernst of the Los Angeles Fire Department agrees. “The hospital has given us a comfort level that ensures our mutual concerns for public safety/patient care are being properly addressed. We greatly appreciate the caliber of the team and their attention to detail.”

For this year's Los Angeles Marathon, the hospital is assembling a team of highly trained physicians, nurses and ancillary staff. "We see this a great opportunity to be of service, as well as to make race day a safe and healthy celebration for the City of Los Angeles," says LA Marathon Medical Commissioner Maureen P. Strohm, MD.
